Duct Repair and Replacement

Duct Repair and Replacement in Raleigh, NC

Although there are ductless air conditioning and heating systems on the market, and they’re increasingly popular for new home construction, most modern central ACs and heaters still rely on a ventilation network made of ducts. You probably live in a house that has channels of ductwork hidden behind walls, ceilings, and up in the attic.

These ducts must remain in excellent condition, with airtight sealing and effective insulation, in order to keep the HVAC system working at its best. Defective and damaged ductwork will lead to numerous problems for home comfort and your utility bills. It can even damage your indoor air quality.

Our ventilation experts at Comfort Master Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. can take care of any duct repair or replacement work that your home may require. We’re experienced with creating custom-design ducts, so you can count on us to come up with the best possible solution for your duct problems. Call us today to arrange for service in Raleigh, NC and the surrounding areas.

Signs That You Have Damaged Ducts

One of the difficulties with analyzing a home’s ductwork is that most of it remains out of sight (and often out of mind). How will you know that you should schedule repairs or replacements for your ducts? Here are some signs to watch for:

  • Rattling noises: When duct sections start to come loose, they will create a noticeable rumbling sound. Changes in the temperature in the ductwork cause flexing along the material, and if sections are damaged, they will cause distinct noises.
  • Significant rise in energy bills: Broken ducts will allow large amounts of air to escape from them. That means you’ll pay to heat and cool air that never gets to you, forcing the heater and/or AC to work even more. If you can’t explain a large spike in your utility bills, bad ducts may be the source.
  • Musty air from the vents: If the ducts are pulling in air from the closed–off parts of the house (such as the attic or sections between the walls), the air in it will have an unpleasant musty, even moldy, odor.
  • Excess dust and dirt in the house: Ductwork that draws in outside air will also draw in plenty of dust. This will then be blown all around your home. If you find that you can’t keep up with dusting your house, the issue may be from bad ductwork.

Call Our Professionals for Great Ductwork Services in Raleigh

Repairing ducts is a big job, and you cannot handle it yourself. You can’t rely on non–professionals to do it either, since they’re likely to make the problem worse rather than better. It’s even more important to turn to professionals when you’re looking to have ducts replaced.

Someone who doesn’t understand the job may put in ductwork that’s the wrong size, and this will create air pressure problems within the ducts. Only professionals with extensive training and experience sizing ductwork will know how to take care of this job correctly.
